Harper’s 16 Month Update

September 21, 2015

I feel like I haven’t done an update of our littlest lady in a while, so I figured I would dedicate a post to our not so baby, baby.20150824_161624

First of all I can’t believe my last baby is now a walking, talking, coloring, mess making, independent little girl. Don’t get me wrong, she still likes to be treated like a baby though. She want’s to be carried everywhere. Which for the most part is okay but sometimes I just need to run upstairs to get the laundry so I put her down and she immediately freaks out like I’m leaving her with a pack of wolves. She’s a tad dramatic, I’m not sure where she gets that from….Luckily for her there are plenty of people around here more then willing to lend a hip for carrying.

Sleepwise these days she’s been a little off. The past week she’s had a pretty bad cold, which I’m ¬†thinking is keeping her from sleeping through the night like she used to. She’s been waking up around 9:30 all out of sorts, just crying and thrashing around in her crib. The only thing that’s seemed to calm her down is her bottle. I know some people get rid of the bottle by 16 months but she REALLY loves her bubbas. So for now we’re keeping them. Harper has definitely been our best eater though, the other two are so picky about texture and trying new foods. But Harper will eat pretty much anything, she’s especially fond of ice cream, but who isn’t?

One of her favorite things right now is to go for a walk or run. She begs to go outside and once we’re out there she usually looks for the stroller yelling “walk”. We’ve also recently figured out that she has quite the hat fetish. It’s doesn’t matter if it’s a baseball cap, winter hat, helmet or headband, if it goes on her head she will wear it.20150902_11233920150902_074013 She continues to be a little peanut. The other day I put a onesie on her and noticed it was one that’s been around for many, many months now. So I decided to look at the tag, it was 6 months, lol. Yep, only 10 months off, haha. Her legs are getting longer though, I’ve had to pull out some of the 12-18 month leggings for fall.

This little miss has been, for lack of a better word, difficult. She never stays in one place longer then 10 seconds, while I’m cleaning up one mess she’s already off making 3 more. She’s not a fan of driving in the car, which makes being about 40 minutes from in town not that pleasant. I try and bring toys and book in the car and stagger giving them to her to make it last the whole trip. If you tell her no or scold her she just screams. But then she smiles, babbles and runs off into the other room to find her sisters and I can’t help but laugh. She is the silliest little person and loves to be the center of attention. She sings all the time and of course loves doing anything with her older two sisters. She watches them and then copies everything they do! She’s the sweetest little thing.20150917_154002IMG_20150921_084215 It’s such a joy to watch your child grow from a little tiny newborn to a little person. Our family definitely wouldn’t be complete without this munchkin. We love her so!IMG_20150919_122113

Fall Is In The Air

September 14, 2015

It’s just about mid September, I’m not quite sure where this month has gone. I guess in the chaos of moving, school, soccer and everyday life, time has just flown by. Every year I try and put off my excitement for fall as long as I can to extend summer just a little bit longer. Not because I don’t like fall, I LOVE fall!! Mostly because I know what comes after fall….the dreaded 6 months of winter. But alas time will pass and it will come so all you can really do is try to embrace it. Anyway, now that it’s mid September I’m starting to feel like fall is upon us. I saw a few trees with some orange patches of leaves, another big indicator was the first Patriots game of the season! Football definitely means fall where I live.

The weather has been pretty humid the past couple weeks so we haven’t needed to break out the actual fall clothes yet. I would say within the past 2 days we’ve been cooling off a tad at night, enough to break out the girls footie PJ’s and snuggle under a blanket in the morning before school.IMG_20150911_070625

I’ve been looking around at some cooler weather clothing for the girls and found these Knee High Socks for Jordyn that are to cute! I can picture her wearing them with a dress like this Ruffle Dress and a cute little cardigan. Elly has a little bit more of a sophisticated style and would love this Thermal Wrap paired with these adorable Jzippah Boots, they are so cute with the little heel. I also found these Hatley Apple Pj’s for little miss Harper that are perfectly festive! I found some warm, cozy Koala Baby Slippers for Harper the other day that I thought I would share too, they actually stay on her feet. She’s been a little obsessed with them lately, but who can blame her, they are pretty cute!20150907_080309

Something I really like doing when the cooler weather hits is burning some sweet smelling candles. One of my favorite candles is from Bath and Body called Pumpkin Pecan Waffles, it’s amazing but be careful it could spontaneously make you want to break out the waffle iron.

We are supposed to get back up into the 80’s this week so for now we’ll keep enjoying the warmth while being outside. Elly had her first soccer game on Saturday and we were sweating just sitting there in the sun. She did so great! Until you’re a parent on the sidelines watching your baby play a sport, you will never understand how exciting it is to watch a bunch of 5 and 6 year olds run around kicking a ball. To an outsider it looks like mass chaos but to the parents it’s pure joy. Jud and I were so proud of her, I can’t wait to see how she evolves over the season.20150912_103217 Well I hope you all had a great weekend. Happy Monday and Happy Fall!!

Our Long Weekend

September 8, 2015

When Friday rolled around this week we were more then ready for a long 3 day weekend. This past week has been full of unpacking, rearranging, organizing, cleaning and adjusting to life in a new town. While things are going very smooth and it’s seeming like home, it’s still exhausting. Harper is adjusting slowly to the big life change. She wasn’t sleeping so great and was pretty fussy last week, constantly wanting me to hold her and not eating much. Over the weekend she seemed to do better, maybe having both Jud and I around for 3 days helped make her feel like it was home.

We spent our Saturday in town (the Portland area), we now live about 35 minutes from our old stomping grounds. We packed up the van with towels, toys and beach chairs. We stopped and got some italians then headed to the beach. Unfortunately for us the seagulls were out in full swing. They stalked us as we ate, then when Jud headed down to the water with the girls, Jordyn decided to throw them a chip so they all dove for Jud and the girls. They screamed and cried like nothing you’ve ever heard in your life. I was trying to stop laughing as I ran to help pull kids off my husbands legs. I think everyone on the beach was quite entertained.20150905_12155420150905_12384020150905_120253 We finished the day with some grocery shopping at our favorite places.

Sunday morning was a little chaotic, just like I knew it would be. Getting ready for church with three kids is no easy task, then add on the fact that we now have to leave a half hour earlier then before! Amazingly we made it to church 10 minutes early. I have this theory that the closer you live to something the later you arrive. Like when we lived 15 minutes away we were always late, but I can pretty much guarantee now that we live 40 minutes away we’ll always be early or on time. Anyway, moving on….we went to lunch after church at a mexican restaurant near the mall, I was quite impressed. I’m not to much for mexican but they made the most amazing homemade guacamole I’ve ever had. So obviously I ate my weight in chips and quac, and it felt so right!20150906_12341220150906_124520 We ended the day at my in laws new house for a cookout and swim in the pool. The girls were much braver then I thought they would be. They both went down the slide and even jumped off the sides into daddy’s arms. The had a blast until the sun went down and it started to get surprisingly chilly, so we warmed up by the fire pit while eating our first apple crisp of the season!20150906_15200520150906_15312120150906_17192620150906_180715

We slept in on Monday, and when I say “slept in” I mean until 7, which felt like 9 to us after a week of Harper waking everyone up at 5:30-6 everyday. We puttered around the house doing a little more unpacking and I did a 4 mile run. Around lunch time we went to a BBQ at our friends house. The kids played outside, we ate lots of food and we were in good company. It was a fun relaxing way to spend the holiday that wraps up summer. I’m not quite ready to pack away the bathing suits and sandals though, we’re having some kind of September heat wave where we are hitting the 90’s. So we’re still soaking it up while it lasts because soon and very soon it will be gone. I haven’t done anything “fallish” yet, except buy a pumpkin candle, but I haven’t burned it. Maybe one more week and I’ll jump on the all things pumpkin train with everyone else!

I hope you all had a great Labor Day weekend!

First Day of School

September 1, 2015

Hello everyone and happy September! I don’t have a big blog update but I wanted to check in and let people know we’re all still alive. We moved this past weekend, now it’s Tuesday afternoon and I think this is the first time I’ve set down besides sleeping and eating. Things went very smoothly with the move and we’re getting settled into our new home with my parents. I can’t wait to share some pics of our new digs with you all.

For now I thought I would share Elly’s first day of 1st Grade in her new school and riding the bus for the first time! Yes, today was a big day! I don’t think many kids had their parents, siblings, grandparents, great grandparent and uncle waiting with them for the bus this morning. It was such a fun family moment and I was so proud of my little Elly for getting stepping up those big bus stairs with no tears. She took one of her favorite books to read “If You Take A Mouse To School”.¬†IMG_20150901_16163120150901_07154120150901_071904IMG_20150901_161733 When I picked her up today she said she had a great day, made a friend and loved the bus ride. I would say it was a successful first day! Here’s to another year ahead. Hope everyone is excited for fall!
