It’s been a while since I’ve been able to sit and get a blog post up. This past week was Elly’s school vacation. We’ve already had cabin fever for the past month so the last thing I wanted was all of us sitting at home going crazy all week. I planned things everyday which worked out great. The days were busy and by the time they got into bed at night they were exhausted, perfect plan. We started off the week at a friends house having some valentine’s festivities, the girls made their own mini pizzas and did a craft. I took the older two girls to see Paddington at the movie theater, which they enjoyed. On a side note, I can’t believe how expensive it is to go see a movie these days! It cost $6 for each of the girls and $8 for my ticket, and this was a matinee. I remember when it was like $2.50 for a matinee, does that make me sound old? Of course I also paid the $6 for a small popcorn, and I may have snuck some skittles in my purse, hey it’s a movie tradition. After the movie I was on the phone with my mother in law and put my key in to start my car and it wouldn’t start. We’ve been having a ton of problems with our 2004 Santa Fe, it was just in the shop over the past weekend and I had just picked it up the day before. So obviously when it wouldn’t work I lost it a little. Luckily my mother in law was close by and came to our rescue. I’m starting to think we will be shopping for a new family car at some point in the near future.
The rest of the week consisted of some visits with more friends and a trip to the mall to walk of some winter energy. It was a fun week but I’m glad to get back into the routine today. There’s just something to be said about the daily grind, sometimes you just need the schedule to feel like things are normal again.
This little one has been busy learning all kinds of new tricks. She’s pulling herself up on everything, she’s still a little wobbley though so she keeps falling right on her head, it’s pretty pathetic. She’s waving “hi” and “bye”, eating more people food and she even started making a kissing noise when you blow a kiss at her! It’s the sweetest thing, my mommy heart can’t even take it. She’s also entered a screeching phase, Lord help me. I almost abandoned my cart at Target the other day because I could not get her to stop. She wasn’t crying she was just making the highest pitch screech you’ve ever heard over and over. I’m praying this phase ends quickly to save my sanity! Last night I brought something into the kitchen and when I came back into the living room this is how I found my child. Just chillin on the breakfast tray with some chapstick. I guess we’re also entering the climbing stage.
Over the weekend Elly and Jordyn had a sleepover at my in laws, so Jud and I got a little time on Saturday to chill with just one baby. There’s a little breakfast cafe in Portland that I love but it’s small and wouldn’t be as enjoyable to bring all the kids to. So we took advantage of only having one child, got up nice and early and headed over to the cafe. There was only one other couple there so it really was a peaceful, relaxing breakfast. Well that’s a glimpse of our winter break and weekend. Hope you all enjoyed you week. We’re heading into the last week of February, yay, spring is just around the corner!
