Hello to everyone on this snowy Tuesday afternoon. We are in the midst of a lovely blizzard. Usually a big blizzard at the end of January would leave me pulling my hair out, stuck inside for days with 3 littles, but luckily this year we have not been bombarded with snow. It’s been such a mild winter so far that I welcome this snow storm and the chance for my family to be stuck home playing games and watching movies!
To kick off the morning I made some festive snowman pancakes! Even though it’s a lazy day I got my butt up off the couch and onto the treadmill, I ran 5 miles. Right now my motivation is the half marathon that I’m going to be running at the beginning of April. It’s the middle of winter which means that running outside sucks! I know many dedicated runners run in all weather, but that’s just not for me. I’m not a fan of my lungs being frozen and feeling like I’m going to die. So unfortunately I run my long mile runs on the boring old treadmill. Thankfully Netflix added Gilmore Girls and made my life so much happier, so sometimes I actually look forward to the treadmill just so I can have some alone time and watch my favorite show! On another note I wanted to share a little bit of our weekend. On top of the laptop that my husband got me for my birthday, he also bought a private ballroom dancing class for us to go to Friday night. Dancing intimidates me, I’m such a bad dancer. But this class was actually so much fun! We learned a few different key dances, the waltz, the foxtrot and even a little bit of the salsa (per Juds request). Let me tell you, I have so much more respect for the people who go on dancing with the stars. That is some tough crap! After our fancy footwork time we hit up Whole Foods, sometimes just going to the grocery store together with no kids is the best date. Obviously we checked out their bakery, because it’s amazing, and we grabbed a little midnight snack! It was a nice date night and a pretty relaxing weekend. I hope you all had a great weekend as well, and that everyone is enjoying their snow day!

Happy Monday folks! Mondays are always such a bummer, but there are two things that make it not so bad for me today. The first is that the Patriots kicked butt last night in the AFC Championship game and are headed to the Super Bowl!
The other little tiny thing is that it’s my BIRTHDAY tomorrow! Some people don’t think birthdays as adults are a big deal, but not me. I love to celebrate mine and my husbands birthdays, it’s nice for the kids too. They get all excited, decorate the house, buy presents and make cakes. It’s just plain old fun and it takes my mind of the fact that I am yet another year older, blah.
I already got my present from Jud. He bought it on Friday and was so excited that he couldn’t wait until my actual birthday to give it to me. It was a Macbook Air! Yep, my very own Apple laptop! I have been wanting a Macbook for a couple years now, since our last mac crashed, but we haven’t been in the financial spot to be able to buy one. We don’t have any credit cards and Apple doesn’t do “payments plans”, so the only way for us to get one is by saving our pennies the old fashion way. Without me knowing my hubby has been secretly stashing money to surprise me with the laptop for my birthday. It was such a great surprise, I never in a million years would have thought he could have pulled that off without me knowing! I was smiling like a goof ball all day! It was nice to have the weekend to play with my new toy. Saturday was pretty busy, me and my three ladies went to my childhood best friends baby shower. It was a tea party theme, which was perfect for the mommy to be who is obsessed with tea! Sunday was a nice relaxing day, we had my parents and brother over for a visit and games. They got to see Harpers nursery for the first time and also checked out the girls new reading nook. We all played Heads Up which is a game that Ellen DeGeneres invented, check it out HERE, it’s a great group game!
A new thing that Harper is doing is smiling when I take a picture of her. It’s so stinkin cute!
She’s also shoving anything and everything into her mouth as fast as she can before you can grab her arm. I’m super thankful for my two little alarms that yell when they see her pick something little off the floor. This morning Jordyn stopped her from putting a piece of paper in her mouth and said this as she took it away from her, “That is paper Harper, if you get that in your mouth you’ll die!” which I thought was very appropriate to tell an 8 month old.
Well there you have it, my birthday surprise and our weekend all wrapped up in one. I hope you all had a great weekend!

I can’t believe that Harper is actually 8 months old today! I know I say it a lot but honestly, where does the time go? It seems like it was just a few weeks ago that I was stuck in the hospital on 24 hour monitoring. The days seemed to drag on as I lay in bed all day long and pray that my baby would stay in my belly one more day. And now here were are 8 months later with a happy, healthy little Harper Rory! One of the things Harper has been up to lately is perfecting her crawling skills. For weeks she would get up on her hands and knees, rock back and forth but then fall on her belly. Well, this past week she finally figured out how to actually take a few little steps with her hands and drag her knees along. For now though she still prefers to just army crawl around the living room, which I’m totally fine with because she moves very slow!
She’s also starting to eat a little more, and when I say “little” I mean it. Harper has never been a good eater, but now she’s eating a few meals of baby food during the day so I feel like she’s getting more. I have tried a few different kinds of baby cereals and have found that she likes the Earth’s Best rice and oatmeal. I usually mix some fruit with it in the morning and at dinner time I mix in a veggie. Her favorites are peas and sweet potatoes! We also got some Mesh Nibblers for Christmas that I’ve been putting pieces of apple and banana in and she loves it! I’ve been trying to get her to learn to drink from a sippy cup but it’s not going as well as I hoped it would. She just plays with it, oh well, she’ll lean sometime. Some of her favorite toys are the B. Times Square Cube, her little Sophie Teether, and this VTech Singing Bear. There’s just something about that pink little singing bear that makes her smile and giggle, she loves it. The other thing she’s loving these days is her Zoo Jumperoo. She jumps her little heart out and her toes are always perfectly pointed, like a little ballerina. Maybe we have a dancer on our hands? Most days Harper takes three naps, one in the morning, one after lunch and a short one before dinner. I’m thinking that soon it will be down to two, which I’m okay with since I’ve been pretty spoiled with all her naps for 8 months now. She’s sleeping great in her own little nursery. I always put her to bed awake, she talks and plays for a few minutes then goes right to sleep.
Well that’s about it for the 8 month update. She really is a little piece of sunshine in our lives!

The past week has been extra busy for us because right after Christmas we have to start thinking about our little Jordyn’s birthday. It’s January 5th, so we really don’t even have time to sit back and sip some coffee after the big holiday rush. We decided to finally put the girls together in one room and see how I went at night. Luckily for us bed time went just as smooth as it usually does and we were able to make Elly’s old room into a playroom! I have been wanting to make/build them a fort for a long time, I just wasn’t sure what I wanted it to look like. So obviously I took to pinterest and found tons of great, fun ideas. A few that I liked were HERE, HERE, HERE, and with some sort of twinkling, fairy lights like THESE or THESE. Since it was Jordyn’s birthday weekend we decided to build their little reading hideaway and surprise her with it for her present. It turned out this…
There’s still a few things I want to do but for the most part it’s done. Jud started by building a platform so that it would sit up on top of the floor a little. Then he built a custom book shelf and screwed it right into the platform so that it’s nice and sturdy. My little Jordyn may be small but she can scale just about anything! For the canopy I used a hoop that I found at the craft store and bought curtains that I found at The Christmas Tree Shop, score! The rug is actually a throw blanket that was on a clearance shelf at Target, another score. I’m going to get some foam pads to go underneath it for a little extra cushion. The girls were super excited when we showed them, they love going in there and lounging with a good book. They also use it as a stage which I thought was genius! It’s nice cause Jud and I can both fit in there and read them stories at bedtime, it’s so cozy. It was another successful DIY that we attempted. We have some other plans to complete the playroom area so you’ll have to stay tuned to see them!
In other news Harper is sitting up mostly by herself. She’s also army crawling around the house to get where she wants. She is constantly crawling over to the girls and taking their toys or rolling all over whatever they are doing. We started calling her babyzilla. I feel like once they hit this stage they go to toddler fast. I can’t believe we’re at the baby proofing and baby gate stage already, time just flies when you’re having fun! Hope you are all staying warm in this freezing cold weather and having a great week so far. It’s almost the weekend!!!
