Thanksgiving Plans

November 24, 2014

Happy Monday and welcome to Thanksgiving week! Can you believe it? I know I can’t, one minute we’re going trick-or-treating and the next we’re having Thanksgiving dinner. Time seems to have sped up somehow since I’ve had three kids. Every day and every week is a whirlwind. I’m just trying to keep up with these guys!IMG_20141113_191617

Moving back to Thanksgiving, our plans this year are to stay home. I’m actually hosting dinner for my mom’s side of the family at my house. It’s our first time hosting the whole dinner, so I’m rather excited! For the past 3 years we’ve gone to NYC and stayed with my sister in law. We go to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and then pick up a whole turkey dinner from Boston Market on the way back to the apartment.IMG_2503 In the process of getting the house ready for guests I’ve already put up a few white Christmas lights. It’s getting me in such a holiday spirit!

This past Saturday we had a turkey dinner at my dad’s house, it was delicious as always. We have a tradition of decorating ginger bread houses every year before our meal together. I have a love hate relationship with this tradition, I hate how my perfectionist side comes out and it takes me 45 minutes to decide what I want to do but I love how every year, in the end I have a beautifully decorated gingerbread house!20141122_09573120141122_095713IMG_20141122_115201 Here is a picture of how the town looks for now, once everyone does their house my dad takes a few days to work on candyscaping (aka candy landscaping).gingerbread town Well the next few days are going to be busy here cleaning, cooking, and trying to entertain 3 kids! Hoping everyone has a great Thanksgiving. And a safe black Friday if your planning to brave the crowds!

Harpers Nursery

November 17, 2014

Well it’s been a busy but productive weekend. Harper just turned 6 months on Friday and gave us a little 6 month present, sleeping through the night!20141112_082907

Elly slept through the night starting at about 8 weeks but Jordyn wasn’t sleeping through the night until 9 months, yep you read the right, 9 months. So I didn’t really know how long little miss would be needing her midnight feeding, and then one night she surprised us and slept right through! She has been waking up rather early, about 5:30 or 6 and just talking, then going back to sleep after a little bit of playing in her bed. So this is when we decided it was time for her to get her own room! I’ve just started putting things together for her nursery because we weren’t sure if we wanted to change the spare room into a nursery or move her upstairs to the third floor with the other girls. We figured it would be better for everyone if she had her own room for now. So we spent most of the weekend moving furniture and rearranging things to get her room set up. Here is a collection of some things I would love to incorporate into her nursery. Nursery

Pink Magic Carpet, Gold Fierce Print, White and Gold Shelves, Crib Canopy, Star Garland, Paper Mobile, Harper Lettering, Wire Basket

She’s been sleeping great in there, I think I might have to put up a gate at her door soon though. I walked in to get her from her nap yesterday and Jordyn was in her crib with her. It was cute, yes, but it made me nervous. Jordyn most definitely smothers with affection!20141116_180925 That’s it for now, stay tuned over the next few months as I put Harpers little nursery together.

Christmas Shopping Weekend

November 11, 2014

Hello and happy Tuesday. I hope your rested from your weekend and ready to get this week started so it can be over. We had a great weekend here, my parents took the two older girls for an overnight so that Jud and I could do some Christmas shopping. We also had Harper tagging along with us trusting that she wouldn’t spill any secrets about gifts for her sisters.20141107_103628 I think this is a face I can trust.

We got a good chuck of the shopping done, most of what’s left is stuff that we’ll order online, we’ll wait for cyber Monday and hope to get some great deals! I saw these sumo suits and thought it would be so fun to get for someone. How fun would that be at a party, not just for kids but adults too! Maybe a good gift swap idea.20141108_092747 Sunday we did some yard work, and when I say “we” I mean, my husband. The kids and I played and kept him company. It was warm enough for just sweatshirts, which is our favorite kind of weather.20141109_14340120141109_143555 Elly and Jordyn love hiding under this huge bush in our yard, the pretend it’s the wardrobe from the Chronicles of Narnia. I love listening to them pretending to be Lucy and Susan fighting the white witch. Sometimes I wish I had half of their imaginations and pure joy of life.20141109_143935 Today is Veterans Day so Elly is off from school which means some extra fun for the day. But that also comes along with some extra noise and fighting, oh well. Harper is glad to have her big sister home to entertain her.IMG_20141111_104444

Baking Monster Cookies

November 6, 2014

This week so far has been rather laid back. Little miss Harper got a cold over the weekend and ever so graciously gave it to Jordyn. We only have one humidifier so we’ve been switching it between rooms every other night, it’s fun. Harper still wakes up once a night to eat so she’s still in our room, unfortunately she hasn’t been sleeping well since she’s been sick, which means we haven’t been sleeping well either. She wakes up a couple times a night and just talks, she doesn’t fuss, just makes noises, then after about 10 minutes she starts screeching with excitement. Then she falls back to sleep after she has successfully woken us up to the point where it takes a hour to slip back into unconsciousness. And just to make sure we don’t forget what it’s like to have a newborn, she also has been throwing in the extra treat of waking up between 5:30-6 every morning.20141019_150431 And then she looks at you with that face and you can’t be mad that your completely exhausted.

On Tuesday we were supposed to go have dinner at my friend Janeen’s house and hang out but she text me that morning that she was having an allergic reaction all over her body. A little while later she told me that she had to go pick up her son from school because he had a fever and was throwing up. Her husband is out of town all week so Jordyn and I decided we’d make them cookies and home made mac and cheese to drop at their house for dinner.20141104_105557 We made monster cookies which is basically everything but the kitchen sink thrown in. It was perfect to use up some of the Halloween candy!IMG_20141104_12041320141104_112730 These cookies exceeded my expectations. They were so soft and yummy I couldn’t help eating two of them right warm out of the oven! Find the recipe HERE.

Something I got really excited about this week is Starbucks bringing out their holiday drinks and those famous red cups!christmas-coffee-colorful-cute-starbucks-Favim_com-77456 Seriously who could resist that cup? If you have coffee or tea lovers that your buying for this Christmas check out these awesome mugs. Ceramic Mug, Travel Mug, they even have this Mug Ornament. As we get more into November we all start thinking about Christmas shopping, I’ve already started buying a few things here and there. It’s so exciting! Hope you all are having a great week!

Trick or Treat

November 1, 2014

Happy November! I’m not sure how it happened but October has ended and we are officially entering Christmas season. If you don’t believe me just ask Target, I found them getting into the  Christmas spirit this past week.

20141030_092907 Anyway back to October, so yesterday was Halloween! It started off with Jud dressing like a pirate for work and Elly in her PJ’s for school. I was surprised at how closely Jud’s wig matched his real hair, you honestly couldn’t tell it was a wig unless you knew…creepy.

20141031_080537 As soon as Elly got home from school the girls insisted that they get in their costumes. I got Harper ready and we had a little photo shoot before daddy got home.

IMG_20141031_17295820141031_171058 I know it looks like Harper is ticked but all the pictures with her smiling came out blurry. If you couldn’t guess it we have Elsa, Anna and little Olaf the snowman.

We live on a busy street which is not really where you want your littles running around going candy crazy. So we headed over to our friends to go trick-or-treating in their neighborhood. It’s always fun for the kids to go with their friends anyway. The sun was setting on our way over and I snapped this pic while we were at a red light, sorry about the pole but it’s still a great picture!20141031_174156 Here are the four older kids ready to rock and roll.20141031_18021620141031_183701 I think my favorite part of the evening was picking Jeremiah (the lobster) up every time he fell. I tried not to laugh to loud so he didn’t hear me but it’s pretty funny to see a little lobster running across the grass and then belly flop. It was a lot of fun, we ended up piggy backing and carrying most of them by the end but no one lost it or had a complete melt down, so it was a success! We hung out at Janeen’s house for a bit after and let the kids play. Of course I had to get a picture of the two babies. Who says a lady bug and snowman can’t be best friends?IMG_20141031_201013 This weekend will consist of candy eating and cleaning the girls rooms. My poor little Jordyn is sick with a pretty bad cold so I’m sure there will be movie watching as well. Hope you all had a good Halloween!
