Monthly Favorites

August 28, 2014

I thought I would compile a list of some of my go to favorites that I used for Harper in the first two months. I put links to them below!

One and Two Month Favorites
One– I really can’t say enough about the Aden and Anais Blankets. They are truly the softest and best swaddle blankets out there! They are lightweight so it was perfect for covering Harper even in the summer months when it was hot. She now loves to grab these and squish them into her face!

Two– These are the best for night time. It keeps them nice and tight all night long and you don’t have to worry about them coming all undone.

Three– Harper loved and still does love her swing. I can’t imagine not having it. This swing that we have is nice because it can go side to side but you can switch it to go forward and back too. I will be so sad when she grows out of it.

Four– This bottle drying rack is great. It fits a lot of bottles and doesn’t take up to much counter space, which is very limited in my kitchen!

Five– Dr. Browns bottles have been the bottle I have used for all three of my girls. I have found them to be the best at reducing gassiness and spit up. I will say washing all the little pieces is a pain but since I love the bottles so much it’s worth it. They come in pink and purple now which makes it way more fun!

Six– Harper was super fussy starting at about 6 weeks and well it still hasn’t ended. But I find that sometimes this gripe water helps her calm down a little. Definitely not all the time but give it a try, it’s worth it.

Seven– I like pampers wipes. Personally I think they are the softest out there.

Eight– This little paci pod has been a handy little gadget. I always make sure there’s an extra paci in there and whenever I’m out and Harper decides to spit hers across the floor, I have another one. It buttons right onto the diaper bag and comes in lots of cute patterns!

Nine– I love this diaper bag. It took me a long time to decide on one to purchase but I finally landed on this one and I’m happy with my decision. I can shove a lot of crap in this bad boy, which if perfect for a mom of three! Cell phones and keys fit perfectly in the outside pockets too.

Well that about sums it up. Having a newborn is hard but some of these things make it a little easier. Feel free to leave comments for other mammas to check out!

Coffee Monday

August 25, 2014

Well another weekend has come and gone, so you know what that means?! It’s coffee Monday! Last night Elly and Jordyn spent the night at my parents camp roasting marshmallows, hot dogs, swimming and playing games. Since Jud and I only had Harper we decided to set the alarm nice and early to get up and out for a morning run together. Well 6am rolled around and both of us sighed in agreement that there was no way we were getting out of bed. Once we finally did get up for the day I marched right to the kitchen and brewed up a fresh pot of my favorite flavor coffee. Unfortunately it’s one of Target’s summer flavors so it’s going on clearance and saying goodbye until next summer.

It was a nice relaxing weekend here at the Blake house. I have to mention that we tried our first Holy Donuts on Saturday and they are super delicious! They melt in your mouth and when you take your last bite it makes you want to cry like Harper on a road trip.

When we headed to the farmers market it was actually a little brisk so Harper got to test out her little jean jacket. She was so cute I just wanted to squeeze her!

They say kids say the darndest things and that is oh so true with our three year old! We were in the car when Jud put one of Jordyn’s peanut butter crackers in her purse, fooling around. Jordyn rolled her eyes and turned toward her window while uttering the words “Dad you’re embarrassing me”. We had a good laugh at that one. I don’t think that will be the last time she will say the phrase in her life.

Sunday we spent some time at my parents camp soaking up the sun before we left the older two there. It was very peaceful and the perfect way to end one of the last weekends of summer!

Hope you all had a great weekend and a big cup of your favorite coffee today!

Play Date + Soda Bar

August 21, 2014

I just wanted to do a short little post about our adventures today! We had a fun play date complete with rolling down a hill, swinging, face painting, sliding and ending with a stop at a local soda bar. I met up with one of my greatest friends, I always love spending time with her and letting our kiddos run off energy together. She also has 3 kids who are almost the same ages as my kids. We had a great time and I think they made the day of the workers at the soda bar. We were non stop entertainment, as you can imagine 6 kids in a small soda shop! So here are some snap shots of our wonderful outing!

This one of all of us is a little abstract, kind of funky just like the bar.

If you click this link HERE you can check out the yummy flavors Vena’s Fizz House has to offer! We love spending time with friends even if we do look like a traveling circus through the streets of Portland! It was a great way to kick of the weekend. Hope you enjoy yours!

Running + Rock Walls

August 21, 2014

I found this colorful, motivational print and thought I would share it with you all. The link to purchase this lovely piece is HERE!

Yesterday was a perfect weather kind of day. Sunny and 80 with no humidity, great day for a RUN! Elly and Jordyn ride in the double jogger which my husband pushes like a boss. I run with Harper in the single jogger and it looks a little something like this.

I am slowly getting used to pushing a baby while running and it’s honestly like learning how to run all over again, yuck! But I must say it’s worth it, when I finish in a puddle of sweat I feel like I just won the Olympics and in my head I hear thousands of fans cheering my name!

Moving on, we decided to go for a run last night with the whole brood and make a landing at the playground down the street. One of the fun things for kids there is a little rock wall along the side of the school. As Jordyn threw herself on it, climbing as fast as she could, Elly stood and examined it. She got enough courage to have daddy put her up on it and as soon as he stepped away she screamed and cried like someone had thrown her into a pit of lions! Of course all the parents at the playground look at us like we’re giving her some cruel punishment, at that point we packed up and headed home.

Harper has really started smiling on purpose these days and it’s so much fun! Here is a little pic I snapped while she was thinking happy thoughts. Hope everyone is enjoying their week!

Back to School Style

Well as you all can tell summer is coming to and end. Though I will miss sunscreening kids 87 times a day, melting popsicles, skinned knees and scrubbing dirty feet every night before bed, I am very much looking forward to the cool, brisk air that comes with Autumn. Not to mention all the fun festivities of the season!

I think I’m still in a little bit of denial that Elly will be starting kindergarten this year. I’m trying not to think about it to much but I know when the first day of school comes I will need some tissues. Although she is very excited she will make sure to also tell you she’s a little nervous. I imagine the first few days will be a little difficult but once she warms up to the kids she will have a blast! In the spirit of school starting in just a couple short weeks I thought I would share a few things I’m loving for this back to school season!

Back to School

Even though Fall is rounding the corner we are still soaking in the last bits of summer. Today the girls and I enjoyed a nice walk/bike ride on one of our favorite walking paths. And though it ended in tears when Jordyn let her bike go flying down a hill and it flew of the path and fell over, it was a gorgeous day and we got some much needed fresh air!

After pulling ourselves together and maintaining composure we headed over to Whole Foods and met up with some friends for lunch and do a little shopping. If you haven’t had Whole Foods pizza (that they make in a brick oven) you are truly missing out! With Harper in the front pack and three kids in a cart we threw a bunch of things into the cart and called it a day!
